Early Action Freshman Admission
If Mount St. Mary’s is one of your top choices, you can apply early. Submit all application materials, including your high school transcript and SAT results through your junior year, by December 1. The Admissions Committee will tell you its decision by Christmas. This early notification plan is nonbinding.

The Cardinal Newman Society
The Cardinal Newman Society recommends Mount St. Mary’s University as a top college in their 2009 edition of Choosing a Catholic College. The guide based its recommendations on how well the Mount “embraces the Catholic mission in all facets of campus life.”

Typical Accepted Student Profile
Our typical accepted student has a GPA of 3.0 to 3.5—or a B/B+ average with an SAT score (math and critical reading sections only) of 1000-1200. ACT score of 22-26. We strongly consider involvement in extracurricular activities—particularly leadership roles.

The Mount is your home for an affordable Catholic education. Last year, Mount St. Mary’s University students received over $33 million in financial aid, nearly half of which was scholarships and grants from the university. Last year’s freshman class received an average financial aid package of just over $18,000.

Mount St. Mary’s offers scholarships, grants, loans, student employment, and special payment plans. Nearly 95 percent of students attending the Mount receive some form of financial aid. Through its scholarship program and financial aid packages, the university attempts to assist in students’ financial investment as much as possible. The Mount participates in all major federal financial aid programs, including the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Perkins Loan, Federal Stafford Student Loan, and Federal Work-Study programs. Federal PLUS loans may also be used.

More than 95 percent of students receive some form of financial aid, with an average freshman package of more than $18,000. In addition to need-based aid, the Mount awards scholarships based on accomplishments in academics, athletics, and service/ministry that range from $1,000 to full tuition.

In addition to need-based and financial aid, 85 percent of Mount students receive an academic scholarship.

Trustee Scholarship ($16,000 per year)
Recipients typically have a high school A average with distinctive course selection, 1300 or greater SAT scores, recognized leadership, and involvement in school and community activities.

Presidential Scholarship ($13,500 per year)
Recipients typically have a high school B+ to A average with above-average course selection, 1150-1350 SAT scores, recognized leadership, and involvement in school and community activities.

Dean's Scholarship ($12,000 per year)
Recipients typically have a high school B+ to A average with above-average course selection, 1050-1200 SAT scores, recognized leadership, and involvement in school and community activities.

Mount Leadership Grant ($9,500 per year)
Recipients typically have a high school B to B+ average, 1000-1150 SAT scores and are active participants and leaders in school and community activities.

Mount Heritage Grant ($6,000 per year)
Recipients typically have a high school B average, 950-1050 SAT scores and are active participants in school and community activities.

Founder's Scholarships
Three full tuition annual scholarships are awarded to students who perform superbly during an on-campus, written examination in January and a follow up on-campus interview (for finalists only). Students eligible for the scholarship competition have a 3.25 GPA or better and SAT scores of 1200 or ACT score of 27 or greater. Contact the admissions office for dates and eligibility.

Bishop's Scholarship
Bishops of selected dioceses will award one to two scholarships worth $17,000 from Mount St. Mary’s University to eligible parishioners each year. For a current listing of dioceses and application procedures, please click here.The scholarship application deadline is February 1.

Catholic Educators Scholarship
Undergraduates whose parents are full-time faculty, staff, or administrators at Catholic elementary and secondary schools and who have demonstrated financial need will receive a minimum of an $8,000 scholarship from Mount St. Mary's, renewable annually as long as the parent's employment is certified. The scholarship application deadline is February 1.

Campus Ministry Leadership Scholarship
Scholarship awards of $1,500 annually are made to students who have been leaders in faith-based initiatives that include activities of liturgy, community service, retreats, and music ministry. Students interested in all academic majors and from all religious backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The scholarship application deadline is February 1.

Fine Arts Scholarship
Scholarship awards of $1,000-2,000 annually recognize outstanding high school and community achievements in the arts. Scholarship awards consider student achievement in visual art, music, and drama, and are available regardless of anticipated academic major. The scholarship application deadline is February 1.
