a small campus
doesn't mean we can't
hold our own at sports.

The Mount boasts what few colleges of its size do: NCAA Division I sports. The university competes against some of the biggest names in college sports, including Duke, Georgetown, Penn State, University of Maryland, and University of Virginia. The Mount fields nine intercollegiate men's teams and 10 women's teams. Read about them here.

With a 3,500-seat arena, indoor courts, jogging track, pool, and weight and aerobics rooms, the $11 million Athletic Recreation Convocation Complex (better known as “the ARCC”) offers workouts for athletes at every level.

The Mountaineers’ basketball team secured their third-ever bid for the NCAA tournament in March 2008 and made it to the field of 64 teams before losing to top-seeded North Carolina. The Mount's baseball team advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time in the program's history before being knocked out, again by North Carolina.

Additionally, 10 club teams provide students with the opportunity to develop leadership skills both on and off the field. The teams are:

  • Dance Team
  • Equestrian
  • Ice Hockey
  • Karate
  • Men's Lacrosse
  • Men's Rugby
  • Ski/Snowboard
  • Women's Rugby
  • Women's Volleyball
  • Ultimate Frisbee
